Yes. Pediatric acupuncture can be safely performed on children 6 years of age and older. We use our smallest premium Seirin brand needles on pediatric patients for a smooth, gentle needle insertion. For children over 8 years of age, the needles are typically retained for several minutes. For children 6 to 8 years old, acupuncture points are needled and immediately removed. For children under 6 years old, we use acupressure and tapping at acupuncture point locations. We also teach the parents how to perform acupressure at home to treat their child.
